Patients with rapid onset of flaccid paralysis pose a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge to the treating clinician. Systematic assessment, constructing a differential diagnosis, and rational approach to this problem will help in preventing intercurrent complication of this condition (Fig. 29.1).
