Sliding Functionality for 3D Printed Lightweight Components

3D printed components operate under severe conditions that often require additional surface protection and functionality. To increase the lifetime and endurance of 3D printed components used, the present paper proposes their functionalization using multifunctional coatings with improved sliding functionality. The paper is focusing on developing a smart approach for component optimization. This is done by combining two different additive manufacturing technologies (hybridization) and customizing their surfaces by laser processing (functionalization).
