Application of ensemble empirical mode decomposition to diagnosis bladed disk fault

2016
Bladed disks are considered as the principal component in turbomachines. Any fault occurs in impeller's blade gives the breakdown in these machines and decrease the production. It is important to detect the failures in the bladed disk as early as possible. The aim of this article is to detect the blade failures such as deformation, fractured blade and blade loss using vibration analysis which considered as an interesting technique for the condition diagnosis. Many signal analysis methods are able to extract useful information from vibration data. In the present study, we are interested to the vibration signal analysis by Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition (EEMD) and Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). By using EEMD, the measured signal is decomposed into Intrinsic Mode Function (IMF) to obtain multichannel signals, and then the spectrums of some IMFs are generated. The proposed method is evaluated using real vibration measurements from a pilot scale. The monitoring results indicate that the EEMD can diagnosis the abnormal change in the measured data.
