Community structure and abundance variation of zooplankton in Baima Lake of Changde

The zooplankton community structure of the Baima Lake, Changde, was studied in the 2006 to 2007. The investigation results indicated that: 48 species of zooplankton were found, including 13 species of protozoon (27.08 %), 23 species of Rotifera (47.92 %), 8 species of Cladocera (16.67 %) and 4 species of Copepoda (8.33 %). There is few zooplankton in Baima Lake and the zooplankton community structure is simple. The dominant species include Hexamita inflata, Keratella cochlearis, Brachionus diversicornis, Leptodora kindti and dorrii , but the biomass vary with the season. The autumn usually has the highest biomass.
