Sulfonated bitumen-based activated carbon and fabrication method and application thereof

The invention discloses sulfonated bitumen-based activated carbon and a fabrication method and an application thereof. The activated carbon is 20-40 micrometers in average particle diameter, 1,838-3,291m /g in specific surface area, and 0.99-2.23cm /g in pore volume, and the proportion of small and medium pores with pore diameters of 2-5nm is high. The fabrication method comprises the steps: mixing sulfonated bitumen powder with deionized water, filtering, regulating a pH value of a filtrate, conducting sedimentation, collecting a sediment, washing, drying, obtaining water-soluble sulfonated bitumen powder, mixing the fabricated powder with a KOH (potassium hydroxide) aqueous solution, drying, conducting three-section activation, and obtaining the sulfonated bitumen-based activated carbon. The activated carbon has the advantages that the raw material sulfonated bitumen has good water solubility, and can be contacted with the KOH solution at a nano size level; the use amount of KOH is reduced; an oxidation stabilizing course is removed; and the activated carbon is simple to fabricate, low in cost and light in pollution. The fabricated activated carbon is used as an electrode material of a double electric layer capacitor, and is high in specific capacitance and good in cycle performance.
