Invloed van Motivatie op de Effectiviteit van ‘The Number Sense Game’

This research focuses on the effect of a computergame, aimed on training mapping skills and early numeracy in toddlers attendingkindergarten. The influence of motivation was also measured.The 90 research participants were all toddlers attending regular kindergarten. After a pretest four weeks of intervention were givenin the training group, followed by a posttest. During the preand posttest components of the Utrechtse Getalbegrip Toets (UGT-R) and the tasks Vergelijken en Lijnen were utilized. A questionnaire was administered to parents to measure motivation. The results show that theintervention had a positive effect on early numeracy, no effect was found on mapping skills. One factor of the motivation questionnaire, Social Dependence, was negatively correlated with progress on the UGT-R and positively correlated with the progress on Lijnen 1-100.
