The author focuses on the subject attribution of the phrase in Kafka’s The Metamorphosis lacking an obvious addresser. The analysis results in an interpretation of metamorphosis in Kafka’s work. Additionally, the author puts forward thoughts on the openness of meaning in Kafka’s creative work.
