A Practical Application of Runway Foreign Object Debris Detection System at the Airport

In recent years, it is more and more important to guarantee the takeoff and landing safety of aircraft by detecting the runway foreign object debris (FOD). In this study, a millimeter wave radar FOD detection system has been introduced. The actual installation and operational aspect at the airport are showed. Besides, field evaluations of our system are carried out at a civil airport. Also, some FOD are detected at the real runway and they can be easily detected by our system.
