Design and Evaluation of Aceclofenac Orodispersible Tablet by Using Different Superdisintegrants

2011
Aim: Acelofenac is nonsteroidal drug with bitter taste. So orodispersible tablet of the acelofenac was formulated for the patient compliance. Method: In the formulation of the orodispersible tablet two superdisintegrants Acdisol and crospovidone was used and different sweetening agent and flavouring agent such as Sodium Saccharine, vannilin, menthol to mask the taste. Results: In the study orodispersible tablet evaluated for hardness, disintegration time, in vitro dissolution time and % drug content. Results indicated that the formulation A-4 exhibited maximum release (100%), minimum disintegration time (23 sec.) and optimum hardness (3.6 Kg) with effective taste masking. Stability study also conducted which show formulation was stable as it is kept at different temperature and different humidity condition Conclusion: The approach using different superdisintegrants and sweetening agent and flavouring agent for formulate a stable orodispersible formulation which could be beneficial for geriatric population. .
