ANSWER to the letter to the editor by M.M.Awad

Abstract This letter is to refute Awad's accusation that our publication used the field synergy principle that is a repetition of existing concepts. Scientific facts are presented to show the novelty of the modified field synergy number and its necessity to characterize the periodic transient flow in caloric regenerators.
