Feature of metallocene based LLDPE – molecular structure, morphological structure and properties of new polyethylenes –

1994
The metallocene Ziegler Natta catalyst is so called “single site catalyst (SSC)”. The relationship between molecular structures and physical properties of linear low density polyethylenes (LLDPEs) produced with SSC was investigated. SSC catalyzed LLDPE had excellent properties such as high impact strength, high clarity and good heat sealability because of homogeneous molecular structure (narrow composition distribution) that had never been achieved by conventional multisite catalyst (MSC). We found some SSC had capability to produce LLDPEs having narrow MWD and CD but excellent melt properties never achieved by MSC This result suggested that there existed long chain branches in these LLDPEs.
