Effects of prunus armeniaca L on functional activity of relieving cough and catharsis in experiment animal

Objective To study the effects of prunus armeniaca L on functional activity of tracheae and intestine smooth musles.Methods Tracheae and large inestine smooth musles were tested in vitro and large intetine were tested with propulsive action of carbon powder in vivo in the same time.Results Prunus armeniaca L lowered the sensitivity of tracheae upon the stimulus of amanonia weter,and antagonize the excitability of histamnias,acetylcholine and barium chloride upon the tracheae and intestine smooth musles.It also accelerated the peristalsis of the large intestine.Conclusion Prunus armeniaca L can evidently relieve cough and improve the peristalsis of the large intestine.
