Ideas to Reduce Thermal Noise in Mirror Coatings

Different ideas to reduce thermal noise in gravitational mirrors by minimizing temperature gradients inside the coatings are presented, including reducing absorption in high index layers, improving heat distribution, removing electrostatic charge and reducing total layer thickness.
