Relationship between polymorphism of adiponectin gene and type 2 diabetes with vascular dieases

[Objective] To explore the relationship between +276GT polymorphism of adiponectin gene and type 2 diabetic with vascular diseases.[Methods] For the case-control study,polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism assay(PCR-RFLP)method was used to determine the distribution of genotype frequencies of +276GT polymorphism of the adiponectin gene in 198 cases of type 2 diabetes and 98 normal control subjects.[Results] The frequencies of +276TT homozygotes were significantly increased in control subjects compared with type 2 diabetes(P0.01).There was no significant difference in the distribution of genotype between type 2 diabetes with or without vascular dieases.[Conclusion] The result suggests that the +276GT polymorphism of adiponectin gene is associated with type 2 diabetes in Shandong Han population,those with the +276TT homozygotes have lower risk of type 2 diabetes.The +276GT polymorphism has no obvious association in type 2 diabetes with vascular diseases.
