Keywords: Phenomena, Students’ anxiety, Speaking This study describes the phenomena of students’ anxiety in speaking at Languages Development Center IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin. The problem formulations of this study are: 1) What are the phenomena of students’ anxiety in speaking? 2) What are the factors contributing of students’ anxiety in speaking?. The subject of this study are 12 students of 3 classes at Languages Development Center IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin. The objects of this study are the phenomena of students’ anxiety in speaking and the factors contributing of students’ anxiety in speaking. To collect the data, the writer uses some techniques such as classroom observations and interviews. Data processing in this study is divided into four phases proposed by Miles M. B and Huberman A. M. Namely: data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion/ data verification. Then, all the data are analyzed descriptive qualitatively. The results of this study have revealed that there were some phenomena that could be identified, they are: the physical symptoms that common occur to the students were tremble, rapid heartbeat and feeling hot. The second is psychological symptoms that experienced by the students the most were panic, fear and going black. The third is behavioral symptoms that experienced by the students were playing with object, lack of eyes contact, and smiling or laughing. The last is verbal symptoms, staggering voice and translation problems were suffering from speaking anxiety. Furthermore, there are seven factors contributing of students’ anxiety in speaking, such as afraid of making mistakes, lack of preparation, limited vocabulary, grammatical errors, lack of self-confidence, friends and embarrassement.
