Sound diffraction at Sierpinski carpet

2003
The sound field scattered by a fractal surface in the form of a Sierpinski carpet is calculated in the framework of the perturbation method. The Sierpinski carpet has an alternating acoustic admittance preset at its squares, which sequentially scale down. It is demonstrated that such a Sierpinski carpet scatters sound almost uniformly in all directions.
