An inverse variable technique in the MHD-equilibrium problem
1985
Abstract The inverse variable method for finding two-dimensional MHD equilibrium configurations is disscussedin detail. The computational technique is based on the formulation of the equilibrium problem in flux coordinates, which is equivalent to a first-order system of equations. The method allows one to obtain coordinates of the magnetic surfaces directly from the system of equations. Examples of some equilibrium problems illustrating the possibilities of the inverse variable method are given.
