Prospective study on the program of children's myopia by visual integrated intervention training

Objective To explore the prophylactic effect on the intervention program on children' s myopia by vision training based on the Physiological Optics theory going with the behavior modification and wearing fogging composite prism lens at near work. Methods With Prospective clinical random sample control study method,300 pupils in primary school grade 2 and 3,from March 2009 to March 2011,were divided into 3 groups by myopia risk after vision evaluation.One hundred pupils in combination intervention group were given vision training,wearing fogging composite prism lens at near work,and taught healthy behavior.One hundred in wearing fogging composite prism lens at near work and healthy behavior taught.One hundred in control group only healthy behavior taught.All the pupils receive the eye examination thoroughly,excluded the organic eye disease and genetic high degree myopia,normal position of eye,normal ocular movement,rectified by negative lens if vision lower than 1.0.After observing and comparing for 2 years,the change of mean diopter of myopia and ocular axis were measured and compared by variance analysis.Statistic difference on mean change diopter of myopia (X) and ocular axis (A) between each group was performed.At the end a study,about 80 pupils completed the follow-up in each group. Results The change of mean diopter of combination intervention group (83 pupils) was-0.4367±0.2238DS,the mean change of ocular axis were (0.1506±0.0666)mm.Wearing fogging composite prism lens (87 pupils) at near work intervention group was (-0.6447±0.2144)DS and (0.2161±0.0723)mm.Control group (85 pupils) was (-1.4441±0.4232)DS and (0.5061±0.1432)mm.Variance analysis showed there were statistic differences on change of myopia diopter (Fx=261.03,Px<0.01) and ocular axis (Fa=255.55,Pa<0.001) among three groups.The mean parameters of any group were statistic different of other two groups (P <0.01). Conclusions The intervention program which main functions are reducing the hyperopic defocus condition at near work,strengthen the accommodation function and moving colorful LED light stimulate the peripheral field may have the effect on preventing children's myopia progress.
