Dynamic Location Optimization Methodology for Urban Transfer Centers

2015
Urban public transit consists of multiple transit modes, such as railway, BRT, and bus. The integration of multi-class urban public transit lines and transfer centers is very important to achieve a more efficient transit system. This paper presents an urban public transit network structure integrating multi-class public transit lines and transfer centers. The urban public transit network structure consists of primary routes, feeder routes and accessorial route. For the long range planning, the urban scale is divided into multiple transfer center service zones, transfer center are located by solving the center of gravity of transfer center service zones. For the short range planning, general indicator is the key factor to optimize the transfer centers location. Dynamic optimization procedure for locating transfer centers is developed. A case study in Fuzhou is provided to demonstrate the process of the proposed method.
