The aim of the article is to summarize scholarly research carried out in the sphere of language and law. The authors analyze the materials of publications and speeches presented at the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference “Language. Law. Society”, and make an attempt to single out the main vectors of the development of domestic and foreign legal linguistics, the formation of which is a direct result of interaction between the spheres of language and law: language policy (problems of the status and vitality of languages, maintenance of balanced bilingualism, language ecology), lawmaking (problems of esotericity of legislative acts, unification of legal terminology, search for interlingual equivalents and creation of bilingual dictionaries of legal terms), legal interpretation, examination of conflictogenic texts (the problem of the need to strengthen the connection between theoretical and applied research as a basis for the effective development of linguistic expertise, the problem of the quality of linguistic expertise, the positive and negative aspects of their scientific review, the problem of identification of insult and approaches to the qualification of its typical features, methodological problems of linguistic analysis of contentious texts — non-standard objects of linguistic expertise in the digital age, including infographics, materials of public discussions, creolized texts, linguistic and legal aspects of advertising distribution), translation of legal documents, etc. The article concludes that at present, this subject area is being expanded and goes beyond the limits of linguistic expertise. The paper characterizes the theoretical and methodological problems that arise in these areas, identifies the most controversial issues and justifies the need for an integrative approach to their study based on the consolidation of the efforts of scholars, experts, and practical specialists.
