Traditional Knowledge on Antimicrobial activity of Some Ethnomedicinal Plants used by Tribes of Gondia District in Maharashtra State

Traditional herbal drugs have recently been receiving greater importance all over the world. The forest regions of Gondia district is harbours plenty of medicinal plants along with other flora and fauna. The ethnic communities mostly depend upon herbal medicines for healing their ailments. An ethnomedico botanical survey was made during March 2010 to November 2011 to collect the information from unexplored part of Gondia district in Maharashtra. The study was done through structured questionnaires in consultation with the tribal practitioners. A total of 65 plant species belonging to different families were used to treat different infections. The information about plant species, local name, parts used, mode of preparation, dosage and duration were documented
