A Survey on Spoofing Detection Systems for Fake Fingerprint Presentation Attacks

This survey reviews the various fingerprint spoofs and liveness detection algorithms through a comparative study on the software-based solutions to fingerprint verification. The survey includes the most recent algorithms published between late 2014 and late 2019, which are primarily compared in terms of their average classification error (ACE) for each type of scanner on the LivDet competition datasets. This literature highlights the state-of-the-art solutions to spoof detection while allowing researchers to easily compare algorithm performance and pinpoint which algorithms are most effective on different scanners. This research pinpoints that there is still necessary research for cross-sensor algorithm robustness.
