Verbs of Seeing

1993
This chapter analyses Mark's use of verbs in the present, future and aorist. The analysis reveals certain features at once. In the present, verbs share the work between them. The future is rare and has only one form. In the active and middle aorist iδeiν does most of the work and other forms are used with particular meanings. If βλέ∏eιν occurs only in the present, its compounds are never found in that tense and with one or two exceptions only in the aorist active. The certain exception among the compounds of βλέ∏eιν occurs only in the middle, and five times in the aorist participle. Keywords: βλέ∏eιν; aorist participle; Mark's use of verbs
