Towards the combined use of Raman spectroscopy and interstitial optical tomography to improve the safety and diagnostic accuracy of brain needle biopsies

We present the design of a fiberoptics system integrated onto a commercial biopsy needle, which combines Raman spectroscopy and interstitial optical tomography for tissue characterization and blood vessel detection to reduce the risk of haemorrhages.
