Etude expérimentale d'une turbulence homogène en rotation soumise à l'effet d'une contraction axisymétrique

1993
Homogeneous turbulent flow in solid rotation is subjected to axisymmetric contraction. The mean velocity gradients remain locally uniform is the radial direction, but vary in the axial direction, mainly due to the amplification of the rotation by the contraction. The turbulence remains nearly homogeneous in planes normal to the axial direction. The experimental results show that the anisotropy of the Reynolds stress tensor due to the contraction is attenuated under the influence of the rotation. This tendency is confirmed by numerical results obtained in the framework of rapid distortion theory
