The Response of a Heavy Tungsten Alloy during Shock Loading
2006
Plate impact experiments have been performed to assess the compressive behavior of a heavy Tungsten alloy under shock loading. Experiments were performed in the longitudinal orientation, and the response measured using embedded manganin gauges and free‐surface VISAR to stress levels of ∼ 24 GPa. The principal Hugoniot of the W‐Alloy is compared and contrasted against published data on pure Tungsten and a number of Tungsten alloys reported in the literature.
