Duck Tembusu Virus Infection

2017
Duck Tembusu virus (TMUV) is a newly emergent pathogen belonging to the Ntaya virus group in the genus Flavivirus. The clinical disease caused by TMUV infection has been recognized in ducks since 2010 and is characterized by severe egg drop and neurological manifestations. The infection is now endemic to Mainland China and affects domestic ducks, geese, and occasionally laying hens. A large amount of research has been directed toward this virus in recent years. In this chapter, we review the progress made in recent years in understanding the pathobiology of the virus, its diagnosis, and vaccine development.
