Pediatric Rhinosinusitis with Intraorbital Subperiosteal Abscess: A Case Report

1999
Acute paranasal sinusitis with intraorbital subperiosteal abscess is relatively common in children. Although the advances in diagnostic modalities and therapeutic techniques decrease the incidence and morbidity, the orbital complications still have potential severity in children. In recent months, several cases were treated successfully with endoscopic surgical management and antibiotics in our hospital. In this paper, we presented one case of acute sinusitis with orbital complication and discussed the mechanism and management. We also discussed the advantages of the endoscopic approach compared with the external approach.
