L’UTILISATION DES NUMÉROS VERTS DANS LA PRÉVENTION ET LA LUTTE CONTRE LA MALADIE A VIRUS EBOLA AU MALI

Abstract In 2014, occurred in West Africa an outbreak of the Ebola virus disease. In Mali, manystrategies to prevent and mitigate the occurrence of this disease have been adopted. Theobjective was to evaluate the use of the toll-free number by users (callers) in the managementof this disease. We conducted a cross-sectional study from October 2016 to January 2017.The study population consisted of users of a toll-free number registered in some databasesmanage by the National Agency for eHealth and Medical Informatics (ANTIM). A simplerandom sampling without replacement involving owner of phone numbers and have acceptedto participate in the interview were adopted. Of 442 numbers called, 276 did not ring, 8 werenot picked-up and 4 answered the call but did not answer the questions. Out of the 134 whoresponded, 94 (22.3%) agreed to participate in the study. The mean age of the participantswas 22 years with a sex ratio of 1.85. The students (46.9%) were the most frequent. Themajority 65.4% of population lived in urban areas and 95.7% called for getting information.Almost half (49%) of respondents were satisfied with the call.Our results show the usefulness of setting up a call center for the efficient management ofdiseases unknown to the population.
