Studies on the Natural Flavor Components of Chimonanthus Praceox L. Flower

1990
In this study Amberlite XAD-4 resin was used as an adsorbent which adsorbed the natural flavor sent forth from Chimonanthus praceox L. flower. The eluant of the adsorbate was concentrated by using a K-D concentrator. The concentrate was then analysed by dual capillary gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and temperature programmed retention index on dual columns. A total of 31 substances were identified, which amounted to 97.2% of the total peak area. The constitution of the natural flavor and that of the petroleum ether extract were compared. Emphasis was made to employ the method of combining the dual column GC/MS with the dual column retention index to increase the reliability of the identification results.
