Dr. Jerzy Dobrzanski was born in Warsaw in 1889. He attended grade school and graduated from high school there. He began medical studies and graduated from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow in 1914. He served as a surgeon in the Russian Army during World War I. He passed his final medical degree examination in 1921. He specialized in gynecology and obstetrics at Wilno University. From 1923 to 1939, he was head of the obstetrics and gynecology department of the Railway Hospital in Wilno. He became actively involved in social issues and the independence cause as a young pupil, for which he was persecuted. During World War II, he was one of the leaders of the Polish underground resistance movement in the Wilno region. He was sentenced to hard labor in the Soviet gulag, where he stayed from 1945-1956. Upon his return to Poland, dr. Jerzy Dobranski lived and worked as a gynecologist for the Polish Railway in Wroclaw. He died in 1970. Language: pl
