The mechanism of ultrasonic cutting

1965
Abstract In spite of the fact that ultrasonic machining has been widely used in industry, the mechanism of the process is far from being clear. This paper contains the results of the theoretical and experimental investigations into the physics of ultrasonic cutting carried out in the Acoustics Institute of the U.S.S.R. Academy of Sciences in recent years. The paper was presented at the 1964 symposium of the Professional Group on Sonics and Ultrasonics of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
