A Switched Beamforming Network for 5G Modern Wireless Communications Applications.

2019
Abstract This work presents compact design of a smart beam steerable array antenna based on branch-line hybrid coupler by using meander-line and open stubs technique to achieve a good performance and miniature structure at 26GHz frequency band for 5G wireless communication applications. The proposed hybrid coupler achieved an impedance bandwidth over 46% with coupling coefficient -3.48dB, isolation coefficient of below -25dB and reflection coefficient of below -24dB. The result shows a good performance. To implement the new hybrid coupler. The proposed series-fed array antenna can produce radiation patterns that can be changed to different beam for reduce the existing interference. The designed array has ten elements series antenna and is fed by a branch-line hybrid coupler, which serves as a beam-former to obtain the beam scanning ranging from -32 to +32 degrees. The simulation results show the return loss of the switched beam antenna can be achieved below -18dB over a 20% bandwidth with a center frequency at 26GHz The maximum gain of 12.398dB and a wideband that cover from 23.34GHz to 28.25GHz was obtained by simulation using Keysight ADS software. All simulated results are clearly presented.
