The Tension in Two Types of Irony: the Limit of Subjects' Criticisms of Metaphysics

2007
There were two types of romantic irony which deeply influenced C.Marx: the irony of the current limited things and that of absolutely perfect and infinite absoluteness. The first type of irony means criticisms on current beings on the basis of pure subjectivity and paramount metaphysics. It is also restrained by the second type of irony. The second type of it satirize metaphysics, pure subjects and absolute beings, which are believed to be unaccomplished and to be approached only by way of art or to be drawn near instantly. The two types of irony restrain each other and can never be overemphasized at the expense of the other. The second type of it,when developed without the restraint of its first type, would straightly lead to the overflow of nihilism and secularism. This risk lies hidden in modern Marxist philosophy as it spares no efforts to oppose abstraction and metaphysics.
