Waveguide Technology Based on Glide-Symmetric Holey Structures: Design Considerations

2020
Using glide-symmetric structures with different dispersion properties has shown huge potential for novel electromagnetic applications. Our interest in this paper is to investigate how waveguide-based technology can be improved using glide-symmetric holey structures. The impact which glide-symmetric holey structure has on the waveguide losses when there is an unwanted gap in the waveguide structure is demonstrated using developed prototypes. Further, an analysis of realistic holes with conical endings is performed using developed effective hole length method which can serve as a valuable tool in the process of designing novel waveguide lenses based on these properties.
