Tin and Phosphorous Stabilizers Derived from Hydroxymethyl-Substituted Trimethylene Sulfide*

1975
Reaction of dibutyl tin oxide with 3,3-bis(hydroxymethyl) thietane [1] leads to a cyclic tin oxy spiro trimethylene sulfide. Reaction of tributyl phosphite with 1 leads to a cyclic phosphite ester spiro trimethylene sulfide. These sulfides were found to be excellent stabilizers for polyvinyl chloride.
