The invention discloses a copper wire and a method for preparing a shielding copper wire mesh. The copper wire comprises the following ingredients: no larger than 0.0025 wt% of Si, no larger than 0.0025 wt% of Mn, no larger than 0.0025 wt% of Ni, no larger than 0.01 wt% of O, no larger than 0.005 wt% of Bi, no larger than 0.008 wt% of P, no larger than 0.008 wt% of S, no larger than 0.0025 wt% of Fe, no larger than 0.003 wt% of As, and the balance consisting of Cu and other inevitable impurities. The method comprises the following steps: a) weighing the ingredients according to the weight percentage; b) conducting vacuum induction melting; c) forging a copper blank; d) processing round bars; e) conducting solid solution treatment; f) annealing; g) drawing into wires; h) conducting bending molding; i) arranging inverted V-shaped skeletons; j) welding by precise resistance spot welding; k) shaping a copper wire mesh; l) conducting surface treatment of the copper wire mesh; and m) conducting heat setting. According to the invention, high purity cathode copper with the purity of no less than 99.99% is used as a raw material of the shielding copper wire mesh, and the impurities in the copper wire material are strictly controlled to guarantee the shielding effect of the shielding copper wire mesh.
