Thermal decay estimation of perpendicular magnetic recording

Abstract To facilitate the design of a thermally stable perpendicular magnetic recording read/write system, we have developed a simple method of estimating thermal decay characteristics from only a small amount of information about the head/media and R/W conditions. The thermal decay of written pattern is estimated based on three factors: demagnetization field, history of magnetization reversal and distribution of K u V/k 0 T . We verify its accuracy by using measured data of VSM and R/W tester.
