Shock late after implantation of a permanent transvenous cardiac pacemaker

1985
Abstract Thrombotic complications from permanent pacemakers are being identified frequently. 1 Pulmonary emboli, right-sided heart failure and tricuspid regurgitation have been reported as thrombotic complications in patients with permanent transvenous pacing electrodes. 2,3 We report a new complication in such patients: shock resulting from obstruction of the tricuspid valve orifice by a large thrombus attached to the pacing electrode.
