Tribological studies of surface-modified sansevieria cylindrica fiber-reinforced polyester composites

2021
Abstract The main objective of this work is to utilize the sansevieria cylindrica fiber as a potential reinforcement along with polymer matrix composites. Unsaturated polyester resin is used as the matrix because of its low cost and easy use. The composite slabs are made by the compression molding technique. Polyester composites are prepared with 40 wt.% fiber loading with a 40 mm length of fiber under a curing temperature set as 60°C. Wear studies are carried out using a pin-on-disc wear tester for treated sansevieria cylindrica fiber-reinforced polyester composites. This study reveals that NaOH-treated sansevieria cylindrica fiber-reinforced polyester composites are suitable for wear-resistant applications.
