Future of extrusion processing

Abstract Like any technology, there is always room for improvement to make this technology more robust. This chapter will highlight the potential advancements in the field of extrusion processing by dividing the chapter into the areas of (i) ingredients and extruder interactions, (ii) extrusion hardware, and (iii) postextrusion operations. The purpose of this chapter will be to take the reader into possible future research areas in extrusion processing. We hope this chapter serves as a vision for the future of extrusion in the cereal grains process and the food industry in general.
