Sharing formats for disease models

2016
Disease modelers have been creating models for a few decades now, and many have been making their models public. In recent years, comparisons between models have begun to emerge. However, sharing models is still not common in this community, partially because there is no exchange format agreed upon as a standard. This paper attempts to offer several alternative exchange formats and tools to help disease modelers share their work: MIST, SBML and PharmML. The paper is organized as a set of mock disease model examples reproduced by several exchange formats. The examples gradually increase in complexity to mimic elements found in different disease models.
