GOODS AND SERVICE TAX IN INDIA- A CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK:

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) has become one of the most prominent topics discussed since its introduction in India. It is the biggest indirect tax reform of India.GST is one indirect tax for the whole nation, which will make India one unified common market. GST is a single tax on the supply of goods and services. GST, which was publicised as ‘one nation, one tax’ by the government, aims to provide a simplified, single tax regime in line with the tax framework applicable in several major economies across the Globe. This single tax has helped streamline various indirect taxes and brought in more efficiency in business. GST law in India is a comprehensive, multi-stage, destination-based tax that is levied on every value addition. This paper focuses on conceptual framework of GST (Goods and Services Tax) in Indian Tax Scenario. Here stated with a concept of Indian taxation and its tax structure. Then the need arose for the change in tax structure from traditional to GST model. GST has been discussed in this paper as the background, silent features in the present tax scenario in India.
