A rare wound infection agent: Achromobacter xylosoxidans (a case report)

Achromobacter xylosoxidans is an aerobic, non-fermenting and gram-negative bacteria causing opportunistic infections. In this report, a patient who’s foot was injured by impact with a hard object and infected by A. xylosoxidans which is rare is discussed. One year after the trauma in the 63 year old male, infection developed in the foot. Twice debridman and aupiric antibiotic treatment started but infection returned. The patient attended the clinic, then based on the culture antibiogram results, a new treatment regime was started and the patient improved.
