Chemically Synthesized Polypyrrole/Titanium Dioxide-MWCNT (PTM) Nano Composites for Experimental Studies of D.C. Conductivity and Thermo Electric Power

2018
Abstract Chemical oxidation method has been used to synthesize polypyrrole/titanium dioxide-MWCNT nano composites in the presence of an oxidizing agent ammonium persulphate by polymerization of pyrrole along with titanium dioxide-MWCNT (TM). Different concentrations viz. 15, 30, 45 and 60 wt. % of TM in polypyrrole (PPy) were used in the present study. It is established from D.C. conductivity studies that the highest conductivity occurs at PTM (60 wt. %) nano composite. Also, it is noticed that conductivity has increased for 30 wt. % of TM in PPy and decreased later and again increased at 60 wt. %. The semiconductor behavior for all the nano composites has been verified by thermo electric power (TEP) study. It can be generalized from the above studies that the PTM nano composites are good thermo electric materials and hence have found applications in micro power generator & thermo cooling.
