The nuclear reaction He4 (α, p) Li7 and its inverse: I. The reaction He4 (α, p) Li7

Abstract Differential cross sections for the reaction He 4 (α, p) Li 7 leaving Li 7 in its ground and first excited state have been measured for an alpha particle energy of 38.5 MeV. The cross sections are in fair agreement with those predicted from the yield of the inverse reaction Li 7 (p, α) He 4 . Under certain simplifying assumptions the partial inelastic cross sections for s and d waves in the reaction He 4 (α, p) Li 7 are 11±1 mb and 33±3 mb respectively for the stated incident energy.
