Friction and wear analysis of transesterified Crambe Abyssinica oil at different loads

2021
Abstract In the present scenario, the pollution due to the petroleum product is one of the area to concentrate. The synthetic lubricants are applied to the surfaces during their contact to reduce friction between the parts. The usage of synthetic lubricants are harmful to the environment as they are non-biodegradable and toxic in nature. The vegetable oils are one of the alternative substitutes to the conventional lubricants due to their properties like higher viscosity, high flash point. In this study, friction and wear characteristics of transesterifed Crambe Abyssinica oil was performed. The performance of the transesterified oil was conducted at different loads. The maximum friction and wear was conducted at higher loads. The transesterified Crambe Abyssinica oil also showed minimum friction and wear at all the conditions.
