Object of the present invention is to provide a large charge-discharge capacity, high charge-discharge efficiency, excellent in charge-discharge cycle characteristics of the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery negative electrode carbonaceous material. The problem may be as follows a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery negative electrode carbon material is achieved by the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery negative electrode comprising a carbonaceous material characterized by an average layer (002) plane measured by X-ray diffractometry interplanar spacing is 0.365-0.40nm, an air atmosphere by using a differential thermal analysis measured in the following 620 ℃ no exothermic peak, BET specific surface area of 1 ~ 7m2 / g, an average particle diameter D50 of 5 ~ 25μm, and (D90 -D10) / D50 is 1.05 or less.
