Scan of the Cygnus region in the 1 to 10-MeV $gamma$-ray energy range

The Cygnus region was scanned by a balloon borne gamma -ray telescope on the night of July 23-24, 1971. An excess of counting rate over the background level in the (0.8 to 10) MeV gamma -ray energy channel was measured coincident with the transit of Cygnus X-2/ X-4 through the aperture of the instrument. The gamma -ray flux values are given, should this increase in counting rate be due to extraterrestrial emission. (auth)
