Effects of pipe cooling on thermal stresses in the ship lock concrete base slab in the Changjiang Gorges

Temperatures are calculated for the ship lock concrete base slab in the Changjiang Gorges by use of finite difference method. The effects of layered construction and pipe cooling in initial and later stages are taken into account. Thermal stresses are analyzed and a comparatively effective temperature control measure is recommended.
